The project focuses on deploying heat pump-based solutions for low- and medium-temperature industrial processes, where fossil fuels still account for a significant share of energy consumption. By promoting innovative renewable heating technologies, HP4INDUSTRY supports industries in reducing CO₂ emissions, improving energy efficiency, and lowering operating costs.
HP4INDUSTRY develops efficient, scalable, and sustainable heating and cooling solutions tailored to industrial applications by integrating renewable and alternative heat sources, including:
- industrial waste heat,
- solar thermal energy,
- geothermal energy.
The project is structured around a three-phase approach:
- Data collection and analysis of industrial processes and energy requirements.
- Development, demonstration, and validation of innovative solutions for selected industrial sectors.
- Replication and dissemination of proven solutions to facilitate wider market uptake across European industries.
HP4INDUSTRY focuses on three energy-intensive sectors with significant decarbonisation potential:
- Food and beverage
- Pulp and paper
- Chemical industry
For each sector, the project delivers replicable technical solutions, business models, and best practices that support the transition to low-carbon industrial process heat.
HP4INDUSTRY will accelerate the adoption of industrial heat pumps, improve energy efficiency, and support sustainable industrial growth across Europe.
