System integration of sector coupling technologies
Our scientific services are aimed at energy infrastructure operators as well as energy suppliers and plant operators:
- We support plant operators in the planning and design of sector coupling plants optimized for the specific requirements and potential of the surrounding energy system
- Using holistic energy system models, we develop concepts and strategies for the optimal integration of sector coupling plants and flexibility options into existing energy systems. We offer energy suppliers and grid operators comprehensive analyses of the effects of sector coupling and renewable energies on electricity, gas, and heating grids, and support them in identifying grid reinforcement requirements at an early stage and planning ahead.
- Together with partners, we are developing a powerful, application-oriented toolbox for the integrated planning of new supply areas – from neighborhoods to regional systems. On this basis, we advise neighborhood planners, property operators, and municipalities on future-proof, needs-based planning of infrastructure development and ensuring efficient, safe, and economically optimal operation.
- With various test benches for large heat pumps, energy storage systems, and sector coupling, we offer testing services for the characterization and validation of innovative systems and integration concepts.
- With dedicated research groups for energy systems and large heat pumps, we are working with industrial partners to drive forward the technological development of systems and components.
