Tobias Rolf

After my studies in Geophysics (University of Münster), I received my PhD in Earth Sciences at ETH Zurich in 2013, focusing on geodynamic simulations of plate tectonics. Since 2014 I worked at the “Center for Earth Evolution and Dynamics” at the University of Oslo (Norway). Here I developed simulations on the geological evolution of Earth-like planets and the formation of impact craters.

After this experience in basic research, I have been devoting myself to applied questions of subsurface research at Fraunhofer IEG since 2023. My approach is based on the creation of geophysical models and their numerical simulation. My main focus is on material storage (H2, CO2) in pore rocks and on thermal-hydraulic calculations for the geothermal use of flooded mine workings.
