Dr. Stella Oberle

Stella Oberle has been a research associate in the Competence Centre "Integrated Energy Infrastructures" at the Fraunhofer Research Institution for Energy Infrastructures and Geothermal Systems IEG since May 2020. From July 2018 to April 2020, she worked as a research associate in the Competence Centre Energy Technologies and Energy Systems at the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research (ISI). She studied industrial engineering with a focus on electrical engineering and information technology at the University of Applied Sciences (HWTG) in Konstanz (B.Eng.), and completed a double master's degree (InnoEnergy Master School) in Energy Technologies at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) (M.Sc.) and in Energy Engineering and Management at the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) in Lisbon, Portugal (M.Sc.). She received her doctorate in 2023 with the dissertation "The role of gas distribution networks in the energy system of the future in Germany". Her research focuses on the long-term investment assessment for distribution networks, taking into account the regulatory framework. In addition, she deals with topics of regional sector coupling, in particular with regard to the competitive situation between gas distribution networks and heating networks.
